Hotel viejo y sucio

El hotel, estaba muy sucio y muy viejo, tenía mucho moho en los baños, mugre polvo y telarañas, todo el mobiliario era viejo y deteriorado no funcionaba el aire acondicionado y tampoco el sacador, muy decepcionante, por que te ponen fotos muy bonitas y habitaciones preciosas y luego no es así, me siento muy engañado, hotel 4 estrellas que parece un hostal de mala muerte.

Con acceso directo desde la piscina a la playa, muy comodo y limpio. A lado de la zona de marcha pero al mismo tiempo familiar

Hemos estado muy comodo y muy tranquila en el hotel, lo unico que nos disgusto es que cerraran los domingos la piscina interior. Tuvimos dias de lluvia y no pudimos bajar a la piscina exterior.

It was ideally located.

This property is not more than a 1 star. Rooms are extremely outdated. Washrooms smell. AC does not work properly. It might have been a 5 star during 1960s but looks like time changed but hotel owner decided to not invest even a single euro after the 1st opening. Please stay away from this place if you coming to enjoy the hotel. The only plus point is the proximity to the strip.

Can’t be over a 3 star, building works throughout the holiday.. food was poor, restaurants all over the place (if you can even get booked in one)

Our overall experience was good. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Hotel was looking a little tired and could do with a spruce up but it was clean. Our first day by the pool was ruined by a bunch of rowdy men shouting and swearing, hence we went to the beach and never went back to the pool. We were all inclusive and the food was excellent though the bbq grill at the muthu garden was absolutely terrible. Firstly they argued we had not booked but i could quite cleary see my name on the list. The staff didnt seem to know what they were doing! Our food was served an hour after we were seated! All the other customers were not happy either. We did not return to the muthu garden to try the other restaurants! All the other restaurants were good though. But apart from that one experience we had a very good holiday and the strip was two minutes up the road with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.

MGM has to shut this place down for a winter and do a full remodel.The staff was great but suffered under the heavy burden of poor upkeep and outdated infrastructure. Neither of my TVs worked in either room and I never called to fix them as I saw the staff struggling with water issues and rooms not ready. I am in the customer service industry as an owner and it seems to me the ownership here just does the minimum to suck cash out of their investment. They could do a lot better if they updated this place.

I would like to draw the attention of everyone who intends to book this hotel. I booked 6 nights for me and my 10 year old son. I didn’t expect a super experience but I at least wanted some sort of comfort (it’s 5* after all!!). Some reviews were quite alarming but the fact that it is indeed 5 stars made me bite the bullet and made this booking. I have stayed in many MANY hotels in my life. This was the worst. I don’t want to bore anyone with the same details that were shared already by previous reviewers. It’s all true, dirty, smelly, old, bathtub leaking, you pay for dirty towels etc etc etc… Oh and the noise!! We haven’t slept one bit in those horrible two nights that we managed to stay there. Out of 6. We run away to another hotel and my god the relief!! I was honestly almost in tears when I saw my clean room, nice bathroom and we could sleep!!! The only positive out of all the things put together was the receptionist called Anabel. She was lovely, professional and actually helpful. Having read so many reviews of deeply dissatisfied tourists and having experienced the hotel in all its glory myself I wonder if a proper investigation should be done. Not the usual: you write a review and the hotel tells you ‘thank you, we will try to improve’. It looks like it’s all a lie. They don’t want to improve. They don’t care. And it’s very sad and disgusting. Things should be done differently.

Fint hotell med god beliggenhet.

Ich verstehe die, die eine 5-Sterne Bewertung hier abgeben, wirklich nicht. Wir würden das Hotel definitiv nicht weiterempfehlen. Fettige Türe und Fenster, dreckige Ecken, Steckdosen sind schwarz von Schmutz, Armaturen im Bad werden nicht gereinigt - nicht mal am Anreisetag. Es steht ja, dass man erst um 17:00 Uhr anreisen kann also bitte nimmt euch Zeit und putzt das Zimmer richtig😬 (Tücher werden aber unnötig, täglich gewechselt??) Sehr sehr traurig zu sehen, wie so eine riesige Hotelanlage vernachlässigt wird.

Disappointing

Hotel is jaded and needs updating. I booked 2 double bedrooms which in the photo looked like they had been recently renovated but got 2 apartments which were outdated. However due to all the extra space decided to stay in apartments. Staff in restaurant do not have tables ready at breakfast or lunch so people are walking around looking for knives, forks, etc. No holiday or good atmosphere in the building. The only ‘life’ is by the pool, which was heated with diving area and slides for children. Recommend the pool. Special themed restaurants are also boring .. no atmosphere and again tables not laid or ready for customers. These are booked in advance so there is no excuse for lack of preparation. Location of restaurants Muthu Garden is cheap and low class

Rooms were very poor … broken shower/flush / bugs … after complaining we got a bit better room but next time we would stay at the Muthu Clube Praia da Oura… that’s more lively and awesome staff and better facilities All inclusive was not worth the money

Full of stag dos and loud music. Not relaxing at all

The property lacked basic amenities such as sugar tea and coffee sachets we were not notified that there was a 100 euros deposit so that came as a surprise. I think for the price there are better options available other there would not recommend. The property is walking distance from the strip and the beach but otherwise would not recommend.

By NO measure is this a 5-star hotel.

It's billed as a 5-star hotel. It's barely a 2-star dump. There is no soap by the sink. When I asked the front desk, they said to use the soap dispenser in the shower. No coffee provided for the coffee maker. When I asked the front desk I was told yes, there is no coffee in the rooms. Same with bottled water. Plus the hallways are furniture are dirty.

Thank you Grand Muchu Oura View Club. For a pleasant stay and enjoyable holiday. I got in contact with the hotel prior to arriving as our flight arrived in Faro early in the morning. This was excellently acknowledged and our early check into the hotel was fully accomodated. My travelling party needed the extra support and this was honoured by the reception team. Communication with the hotel upon arrival and throughout our stay was very pleasant. Even when we had issues with the light in the room, it was promptly dealt with. Ok, food options were slightly limited but we had 5 different restaurant options which meant we were not bored. The location is fab and met our needs. Cleaning was on point and staff were very accomodating. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks again. 😊

Positives: * We cannot fault the reception staff, they were all so helpful & friendly. Exactly what you would hope for. * The restaurants offsite just near the beach are great! Negatives: * On the first few days despite paying for all inclusive no food was being served at the hotel. We had to walk to another hotel nearby, I booked all inclusive for convenience and so we could pop down for something to eat when we fancied it. * The buffet was horrendous. None of it seemed to go together to make a meal, I ended up with chips and bread. I did get some chicken wings to go with it, but they were not very nice. * We we’re excited for the speciality restaurants. One night it was raining terribly and the man seeing us in basically told us off being late, was very rude and then proceeded to just put food on the table and walk off without speaking to us. The speciality restaurants were all in the Mexican and out of the same kitchen. You do not choose a meal, you just get given random things on a plate for each course. Eg a starter we were given was Tuna Mayo, mashed potato and potato skins?!! The food was all very bland and not speciality restaurant quality at all. * Due to the inconvenience of food not being available in the hotel and the food not being an enjoyable quality, we paid to eat out twice every day and ordered in groceries to make our own breakfast. So a total waste of money paying for all inclusive. * The place is very run down, but could be beautiful.

Definitely not 5* more 3* . Stayed 2 nights. Outdoor swimmingpool is good. Sun beds are locked in one position. Had an apartment. Need renovations. Honestly i would go for a different place

5 stars… out of 100.

I’m not sure what scale that this property is using to justify its 5 stars, perhaps it’s 5/100. It is extremely misleading, considering that I could have stayed somewhere far nicer for the same price. Everything is run down and old. The gym equipment is mostly broken in one way or another and the “spa” is worse than my local gym “spa”, certainly not one expected at a 5 or even 3 star resort. This hotel is 2 stars at best. Granted the rooms are spacious enough, so you can probably squeeze a bunch of people in there, they are bland and stale like old bread. Somewhere 30-40 years when this place was presumably built it was probably ok. They just forgot that we’re now in 2024…

The whole hotel was cold. Noise levels in rooms high, from both the halls and construction. Anything wood was broken and dirty.

Grand Muthu Oura Hotel stay

Hotel room larger than normal with great views. Only downside is that there were no usb sockets. BUT cannot criticise too much. Breakfast lovely and surroundings were great. Pool was large and area clean. Only there for a long weekend, but we had good weather in between minor drops of rain. Look forward to staying there again

We had a lovely break, the rooms are a bit dated but pleasant and clean. The bed was super comfy and the room had everything we needed (iron and board was in there too) The pool is lovely, couple of slides to play on. Would definitely return

Hotel is advertised as a 5* but it’s a 2/3*

Overall impression of hotel was not good. Only 1 lift working, décor was tatty & dated, rooms very old fashioned, beds very uncomfortable, pool too small for hotel capacity, noise from rooms above very loud, the cleaners don’t clean kitchen items, location is close to lively part with nightclubs/bars, pool/beach towels available but you have to pay to rent them & leave a deposit (most 4/5* hotels give you a card to exchange for a towel). Negative points wouldn’t be an issue if the hotel wasn’t listed as 5* Room was very old & unpleasant to stay in. We decided to stay in a villa after one night here, so we asked reception to cancel cleaners, we put the “do not disturb” sign on our door, and left for 4 nights, intending to return on our last night before departure. We never told anyone at the hotel that we were leaving. We arrived back at our room a few days later, there were other guests in it. We were told at reception that we checked out, and said we were going back to England, we did not. The receptionist was so rude, I couldn’t believe how I was being spoken to. I asked her to contact the employee who said we left or a manager. She phoned someone & then said they had another room for us, I asked what had happened, & she snapped “I’ve told you what happened, I don’t know who is lying but do you want this new room or not?” I asked for my deposit back for the beach towels and gave her the receipt showing we were owed £40, she tried to give me €40, maybe a mistake.

Nice stay

Hotel was nice enough but the restaurants being in another place was not clearly advertised and when bookings were tried they were always full. Only other criticism is that the vodka which was a house vodka tasting like petrol.

Very nice resort with lots of activities, a great swimming pool and good access to the beach.

This was the perfect spot to get away and relax. There are several great food options, a well-stocked kitchen, an awesome pool, and beautiful beaches. The staff members were very polite and helpful with any questions we had.

Room is very good, but looking out the balcony there is swimming shorts, a bandage and other assorted refuse on the roof. Pool has to be booked for some reason. Lounge is cool looking, but closed early.

Great location with nearly all rooms having a south facing view (sun all day). Very clean, friendly staff, cleaned every day. Just guests above dragging furniture around, can be a bit noisy, due to tiled floors.

Overpriced. Old, smelly, dirty hotel. We stayed in 10 hotels of different areas in Portugal during our 2 weeks trip across the country. It is the worst place in terms of property condition and price.

Horrible ! À fuir ! Personnel désagréable pas accueillant. On vous demande 100€ de caution à l'arrivée alors que ce n'est pas mentionné sur le site. Chambre salle. La salle de bain a des robinets affreux. On comprend pas comment cet établissement a pu avoir 5 étoiles. Sol de la piscine extérieure non entretenue. Vous y retrouver pleins de saletés.

So I book this as it stated 5 star, I would say at best it’s a 3 star property, the place is run down especially the rooms, the room I had was totally in need of a renovation, I think it’s totally wrong to advertise this hotel as 5 star as it really is not, also the dinning area for breakfast need insector gadgets and the food needs to be undercover as there was so many flies in the place. On the plus side the staff were very nice and helpful.

Excellent rapport qualite-prix

A deux pas de la strip et de la plage. Beau complexe qui aurait besoin d’un léger rafraîchissement mais qui demeure très bien. Très belle piscine , nombreux resto et bars tout près - Bon petit déjeuner a l’hôtel , employés sympathiques ( spécialement le barman Alex ). Très grande chambre.

Slightly underwhelming, but the breakfast was quite decent, the service attentive and the pool quite nice. Downsides are the rooms (outdated, slow wifi), the overall facilities and most of all the sky bar - not the make or break on a trip like this, but it looked more like a student bar. I’d still go back - but on a much more stringent budget.

Excellent hospitality and fabulous hotel

Our experience at the hotel was excellent. The front desk staff were super helpful and resolved any issues we had with the tour’s cancelling. The hotel location and grounds were fabulous with all amenities at the doorstep and breakfast was fab. Our apartment was spacious with everything available from on towels, soap, kitchen essentials and access to a fridge which was needed. Only thing the apartment could be updated

Dirty rooms, broken and old equipment, poor amenities

The best pool around, frolic in the pool while have a cocktail and stare out at the sea , great for kids as there are 2 slides . After reading so many bad reviews I was nicely surprised. I would stay here again infant I booked another 2 weeks !

The area was really nice as was the pool, easy access to the beach. Room was a little dirty with noticeable marks on the walls and floor. Room was never cleaned during our 2 night stay and new towels were never given. Overall, not amazing but got the job done and we had a good time. Location is 10/10 though.

Incredibly effortless holiday for us because of every single person at this hotel from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out including accommodating specific requests relating to disabilities. Very clean and well located (don’t let the bank put you off as you can access the hotel from the Main Street level). Super chilled and relaxed now.

Poor 3 star accommodation bathroom moody cracked tiles rusty nail come through floor 2 single very hard beds 2 sofa beds in lounge impossible to sit on thin cushion back rest can’t see tv from sofa, Water didn’t drain on balcony causing a nasty fall indoor pool and spa had been closed for a long which we weren’t told of until arrived Plus point staff were friendly and nice location

Beyond expectations!

For the price, it was well beyond what I expected! Basically an entire (any large) apartment, with full kitchen! Easy parking. Location is an easy walk to city center, and seconds from the beach!

Outdated hotel with very little competitive rates. The pictures are misleading. Room conditions similar to an one star hotel. The only good thing about the hotel is its location (prime), right by the beach and Albufeira Strip.

Mobiliar sehr stark beschädigt. Im Zimmer befanden sich noch im Schrank die Putzutensilien der Putzequipe. Toiletten stank sehr stark. Einzig die Aussicht und Pool waren die Highlights.

Hotellet kunne godt trænge til en opgradering. Der var pænt rent da vi kom, men der var dage hvor der ikke blev gjort rent eller skiftet håndklæder. God service i receptionen. Desværre vidste det sig at fitness var lukket, hvilket var meget skuffende, da der var en af grundendw til ar vi valgte stedet. Dejlig Swimmingpool og god location.

It is not a 4 star hotel. It is a combination hotel / apartment hotel. The building and the furniture are dated, but well maintained. The fitness center is closed (Covid). The hotel is close to the beach. The pool is nice. It is a 1.4 mile walk from the hotel to the escalators that take you down to old town where the bars and restaurants are. It is a clean and acceptable place to stay, but clearly not a luxury hotel. The staff is very friendly and quick to solve any issue.

Super verblijf na correctie kamer.

Het verblijf was prima, nadat we bezwaar hebben gemaakt over de kamer. We hadden twee eenpersoons bedden gevraagd, en kregen een klein tweepersoonsbed en slaapbank toe gewezen. Na het bezwaar een super grote 2 kamer appartement gekregen. Dus volmaakt tevreden

Far from Grand or luxurious,more like holiday camp

This is an old, 70's built holiday club. I would say it is a time-share that is used as a hotel to fill in the days. It was mainly Portuguese families that come for their summer holidays. It is very run down. Our room was old, with cracked tiles and mold in the bathroom, old and worn out furniture, an air conditioner that was leaking into the room. They did fix the AC. We were out to the beach most of the time and didn't worry about the run down condition of the room. But THIS IS NOT A HOTEL. Only got cleaning every other day. Sheets changed once a week. You have to "rent" beach towels at 10 euros each with 5 euro deposit. Even though on hotels.com website there mentions many amenities, there is NO FUNCTIONING RESTAURANT, NO BAR, NO SPA, NO HEALTH CLUB, NO ROOM SERVICE, etc. The pros: location, big pool, view to beach and ocean, kitchen available (since no restaurant on site). But don't come with high expectations, as you will be very disappointed like we were. Since we pre-paid, we didn't think about trying to move. We just spent most of the time out of the hotel. But this place needs a complete overhall and it needs to be reclassed as apartments. BTW I don't think many of these shortcomings can be blamed on COVID as the facilities appear to be in disrepair for a long time.

The location was great. We had a beautiful ocean view from our room. The property may of been 5 star when it was built but it is a little tired and could use some upgrading. The staff and service was very good.

We loved everything about this hotel ! Beautiful place to stay in . The views from our apartment was breathtaking! Definitely will be booking this hotel when we visit Portugal again !

Vraiment pas un 4 étoiles. L'hôtel et les chambres ont besoin d'un sérieux rafraîchissement. La piscine intérieure n'est pas invitante car très froide et le jacuzzi est tout reclu... N'y allez pas pour ça en tout cas!

The rooms are very spacious and clean. There is a tv in the living room & the kitchen had everything you need. The shower was ok, not the strongest and the temperature varied. Nice balcony & small clothes line to dry clothes. The beds were uncomfortable but had extra pillows and blankets which was nice. As the rooms are very big and so are the corridors, noise travels a bit and can be noisey at night. The outdoor pool is very cold & needed cleaned. There was slides so would be good for kids although the water is relatively deep in areas. Nice path straight through to the beach and restaurants. The spa area was nice but you have to pay to use the gym. The gym is good but the C2 rowing machine was broken & old. The spa facilities are good. There is a nice shop to get food, drink & holiday items.

Location. Good facilty, and larger space for family room.

Fantastisk Feriehotel/lejlighed

Et dejligt hotel beliggende ned til en flot strand. Poolen var ren og stor med mulighed for udspring. Det vil være en god idé at leje en bil til at køre på sightseeing i. Det eneste minus var at sengene var alt for hårde.

Hurtig check in, meget store rum, men næsten ingen møbler, køkken m alt det nødvendige, men Combi-ovnen virkede ikke (der gik 3 dage, før vi fik en ny), dejlig altan til 2-3 personer m. bord og 4 stole samt flytbart tørrestativ. Del. rengøring m skift af håndklæder. Fantastisk pool-område - god plads til både børn og voksne m rutchebaner og mulighed for hovedspring uden at genere alle andre. Fin adgang til dejlig sand-strand (ikke børnevenlig pga. store bølger, hurtigt meget dybt og havet er meget koldt), hvor der desværre er MEGET tang. Rimelig morgenbuffet - dog en del dåsefrugt, dåse-baked beans, marmelade, honning etc. i små plastic pakker, “juice” der var kunstig limonade. Ingen variation fra dag til dag.

Excellent location, everything ran smoothly. Very good breakfast buffet. Overall, very pleasant stay. I would be happy to book again with the same chain of hotels. Better sun umbrellas would improve pool experience!

Easy Close to the beach and restaurants

Very comfortable resort, but it needs some renovation and upgrades

La vue avec la piscine et la jolie petite plage juste à côté au top. L’établissement devrait avoir plus de propositions en terme de prestations étant donné qu’il s’agit d’un cinq étoiles... (bar, lounge, activités sportives, musique et autres) ! Qualité des finitions de l’établissement médiocres et attribution des chambres ne correspond pas au montant payé selon les critères choisis ( vue et bruit fort toute la nuit & canalisations odorantes) ! Communication en général a revoir... En conclusion, hôtel bien situé avec une magnifique vue, piscine et restaurants à proximité, mais la qualité des prestations pour un 5 étoiles ne sont pas au rendez-vous.

The Oura beach club ticked all our boxes: 2 bed apartment, resort with pool and near a beach. The apartment was huge with great sea views but the decor was tired, showers in need of repair, bed and sofa uncomfortable. The kitchen was missing quite a few utensils (ie only 3 bowls, no colander for draining pasta) and the oven too small to make pizza. It was mostly quite despite its proximity to the stip but we were disturbed by noise from a club on a couple of nights and could hear everything from the apartment above. One night the gentleman in the apartment above mistook what floor her was on and was able to gain access to our apartment with his key fob, which caused us quite a lot of alarm. (ESP as we were watching the McCann documentary at the time!) The night porter didn’t speak enough English to be able to tell us how that happened or what the hotel were doing about it. However the reception staff on another evening were very helpful when I needed to see an emergency dentist. The pool area was great but 2 of the 3 pools were too deep for our 6 year olds and as there is no life guard so you have to have your wits about you, as bigger kids think nothing of diving in despite signs saying not too. Over all the hotel is good but not up to the 5 star standard as advertised. They are doing some refurb Which should bring everything up to a high standard.
