This is a hidden jewel. Close to restaurants. A park across the street. Great amenities. Pleasant helpful staff. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Lovely accomodation with river views. Lovely & helpful hosts. Beautiful Garden. Easy walking distance to shops and mrestaurants. Great access towalking paths. Easy car access to everywhere in north western Tasmania...stayed 3 nights & wanted more but they were fully booked....A 5 Star Accomodation @3 price.

The property was really lovely, clean & comfortable, the hosts were very nice & made you feel welcome, we felt very at home there..

Weather was abysmal. Only one small heater for a very large apartment.

Quiet and peaceful opening onto a lovely private garden area. Accommodation was welcoming and comfortable and in spotless condition. Hosts were warm and friendly.

It was so good, warm , like being at . The owners were like my father. The bed was the best it was soft as. So good , I would recommend to all my family and friends ❤️

Great location

Received a very warm welcome. Lovely location overlookingthe river andvery convenient for ferry port. Beautiful garden area. Only bad point was stairs as we had elderly mother with us. Apart from that perfect stay.

Walking distance from the CBD, pleasant location along the riverfront, quiet and lovely grounds.

Great view of the river, spacious space, easy safe parking, and beautiful garden. Great stay. Only thing I would change is how long I was there. Only had 1 night. Would definitely stay again.

We loved that the property was separate from the main house and that it had all the amenities we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen had everything to be self sufficient. It was very clean and tidy.

Clean, comfortable and convenient to so much

Owners went out of their way to ensure our short stay was comfortable and the accommodation was easy walking distance to the lighthouse and restaurants. We left our small backpack in our room and the owners brought it to the ferry terminal at 7am, I rang them at 6.30am. No hesitation in helping us out. Highly recommend

Stay @ Birchwood on the River

We arrived at the Birchwood on the River to be greeted by Smiling and happy owner of the Birchwood on the River. Rex showed us through the holiday unit, way beyond our expectation. The Holiday Unit was setup in a way it felt like it was home away from home. The Holiday unit was clean fully furnished with excellent appointments, very close to town centre. Rex was very knowledgeable of the area, recommending of sites to visit. Very happy 10 out of 10 will definitely recommend family and friends to stay there. Will be booking our next holiday to stay at the Birchwood on the River. Thank you Rex for accommodating us and ensuring we were comfortable.

Pleasant Stay

We found our accommodation to be warm and friendly and our hosts could not do enough to make us feel welcome. They informed us of what to do in the local area and suggested places to eat. The rooms were very clean and we had all we needed to cater for ourselves. Our host even offered helpful advice on driving in the wintry conditions on Tasmania's roads. A very pleasant stay and would not hesitate to book it again.

At Home across the Water

The accommodation was very comfortable. All facilities were first rate and the feeling was very homey. Great setting with a garden room that emphasised the personal touches of the owners. Felt very much at home. Travelling from Sydney it was so nice to have this style of accommodation greeting us in Tassie.

Exellent place right on the river bank, not the most luxurious hotel but very cosy and carefully looked after, beautiful garden, every thing was clean as soon as you enter the driveway gate. Lovely hosts Julianne & Rex. Loved their beautiful dogs too.

Best accommodation in Devonport

Rex the host is very friendly and helpful, offering travel tips and eat-out information. The room is a gem - tidy, clean, silent, spacious, and decorated as a piece of art. Well looked-after garden outside. Our first choice to stay in Devonport.

Friendly & welcoming

Fantastic experience. Very friendly & welcoming owner, and beautiful dog who loved greeting us in the lovely garden. We stayed in the Riverview apartment, it was spacious & had everything we needed as a young family. Other members of our family stayed in the garden view suite, it was very comfortable & had everything they needed. The view was spectacular - you're literally across the road from the beach/river, so you get gorgeous views and can watch the Spirit of Tasmania and cargo ships cruise past.

convenience and comfort in Devonport

We made a last minute booking and had to arrive late. Our host was most accommodating and helpful in settling us in. Our room was spacious, clean and beds most comfortable. It is in a very convenient position opposite the river front and was really well appointed for self-contained living. We also appreciated the free Wi-Fi!

Charming self contained unit

Very pleasant and roomy self contained unit set in beautifully manicured garden in a residential area. Cross the road to a lovely walk way along the inlet/river a few minutes to town or the other way to great beach facilities, coffee shop and Restaurnant at the Surf Club.

Very comfortable but access difficult

We enjoyed our two night stay. It was a very nicely appointed apartment in very easy to find location. Access was difficult for the older generation but once we were there it fitted us very well. It was big and nicely appointed to give it real character. Our luggage had to be taken from the front of the property to the back, fortunately the weather was good. We then had to take it up narrow stairs. The proximity of the owners house and flats next door made it not very private, and limited use of the large windows. Charges were top of the market but charges were made to Use the laundry. This and lots of signs what could and couldn't be done,like saving electricity were in bad taste.

A lovely welcoming place to stay, a short stroll to the town centre and we felt much welcomed by Rex, Julieanne and Beau the dog. If you want quiet accommodation and enjoy not sharing your space with staff and guests running all over the place, this is it.

Quiet and relaxing stay in Devonport

We had 3 nights at the Burke Cottage, it is roomy and very homely, beds are comfortable, quiet neighbourhood allowing a very good nights sleep, kitchen is new and very functional, WiFi to the cottage is weak, but more than compensated for by its location and well kept gardens.

Very well appointed unit with everything you could possibly need. Owner was extremely welcoming and helpful.
